Gun Dog Training & Basic Obedience
Gun dog training prepares dogs for fieldwork, whether for upland game or waterfowl. A finished field dog undergoes multiple training phases, with ongoing practice essential. The initial phase for a started gun dog lasts at least six weeks, and dogs should be 8-10 months old.

Training includes live birds. By the end of the course:
- Pointers & Setters: Steady to point, fully force-retrieved to hand, backs, and works/stops on a whistle.
- Retrievers: Force-retrieved to hand, steady for waterfowl, worked in water, works/stops on a whistle.
Before going home, owners attend a field session to observe their dog in action. Regular refreshers are encouraged to maintain skills.
Pet-dog obedience training is available for all breeds, starting on-leash. Dogs typically stay for up to two weeks to learn basic commands like sit, stay, down, and leash manners. Call us today for a consult with the trainer for specific details.
